Class of 2023–2024, International Executive Master’s Program in “Water for All” – OpT
She has been recognized as one of the 100 African women leading the future of water and sanitation in Africa by the African Association for Water and Sanitation (AfWASA) and the Rural Water Supply Network (RWSN)
This recognition comes at a pivotal moment, aligning with the 2026 World Water Day campaign led by UN-Water under the theme “Water and Gender”
This campaign highlights a critical reality: the global water crisis affects everyone, but not equally; women and girls bear a disproportionate burden.
“Your leadership embodies the change advocated by this global agenda: positioning women not only as users, but as leaders, decision-makers, and innovators shaping the future of water systems.”

Transforming water access in Salem, Tamil Nadu: a milestone in sustainable urban water management 💧
We are proud to announce SUEZ’s largest ever water supply project in India: a landmark 25-year concession contract with the Salem City Municipal Corporation, valued at €456 million. This transformative initiative will provide over 1 million people across 91 km² with clean, reliable drinking water, delivering 155 million litres per day and ensuring 24/7 access to water for residents.
Our work will include:
✅ rehabilitating intake structures, water treatment plants and pumping stations;
✅ replacing 1,800 km of ageing pipelines;
✅ constructing 26 new service reservoirs and upgrading 39 existing ones;
✅ installing water meters in over 230,000 homes;
✅ integrating advanced digitalisation and automation systems to optimise water management and enhance customer responsiveness.
This contract builds on SUEZ’s proven expertise in India, drawing on our eight years of successful operations in Coimbatore, and reinforces the power of public-private partnerships in tackling India’s pressing water scarcity challenges. Currently serving 65 million people daily – around 13% of India’s urban population – and holding a 10% share of the municipal water market, SUEZ is deeply committed to innovation, resilient infrastructure and sustainable solutions that protect precious water resources and enhance quality of life.
Together with our partners and communities, we are paving the way for a sustainable water future in India and beyond.

At the 9th International Forum on Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) organised by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in Belgrade, Serbia (May 14th to 16th), SEN’EAU, a joint venture between SUEZ and the Senegalese government, was awarded the first prize for Public-Private Partnerships (PPP). This award is given to the most ambitious project to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.
In a context of climate change, population growth and rapid urbanisation in Senegal, which are increasing pressure on water resources, SEN’EAU is an example of a successful public-private partnership between SUEZ, a leading water services company, and the Senegalese government. For five years, SEN’EAU has been providing continuous access to quality water for 10 million people in Senegal.
“We are very proud to be awarded the 1st prize for Public-Private Partnerships by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. This is particularly significant as SEN’EAU was the only African project selected among 60 initiatives worldwide. It is a wonderful recognition of the work accomplished by the SEN’EAU and SUEZ teams, and we thank the Senegalese government for its trust. The results achieved in five years can serve as a model for other countries as the partnership implemented in Senegal is replicable and adaptable to local needs, while remaining faithful to the principles of ecology, digital transition, local integration and sovereignty promoted by the UNECE. We are determined to keep working with our African partners to develop this public-private partnership model.”, explains Pierre Pauliac, Co-CEO of SUEZ and Chief Operating Officer Water.
The SEN’EAU model allows the Senegalese government to retain sovereignty over water management, a strategic and priority area of public policy, while benefiting from SUEZ’s expertise and technologies. The Group brings its expertise and capacity for innovation to the project, in particular its technical expertise through digital tools and the improvement of drinking water production and distribution processes.
In five years, the SEN’EAU public-private partnership has brought tangible benefits to the Senegalese population:
In addition, SEN’EAU pays particular attention to the environmental and social conditions of its mission:
This successful partnership between the Senegalese government and SUEZ illustrates the relevance of the PPP model in ensuring a sustainable and high-quality water service for the Senegalese population. It also demonstrates how digital and ecological transformation efforts can be leveraged to improving public water services. It is this combination of actions that has been awarded by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
