“The Urban Unit received the 2025 EPIC Air Quality Fund Milestone Award, presented by H.E. Dr. Mathew Owili, Deputy Governor, Kisumu County Government, Kenya, at the Africa Clean Air Forum 2026 in Pretoria, South Africa.
Speaking on the milestone, CEO Urban Unit M. Omar Masud said, “Our 160-sensor air quality monitoring network has led the Government of Punjab and the Federal Government to replicate the model at a larger scale across the country. We’ve also invested in 80 additional sensors to reach towns and townships that were previously overlooked. Air quality isn’t just a big-city issue, it’s a small-town and village issue too.”
